Podcasts 2006-2011
Planet of Fire Redux
This is our very last – and this time we mean it – classic commentary podcast. Featuring extra-special guests Rula Lenska and Ed Stradling, topics up for discussion include: Barry Manilow, Gallifreyan sex toys, Howard’s Way, JNT’s VHS collection, Peter Wyngarde’s crimes against music, and The Rocky Horror Doctor Who Show.

The Finale
The last podcast to be released in this format. Rula lost her job as a result, but complicated IP issues means she can’t work for other podcasters until 2012. The Torchwood/Abba crossover includes a cameo from Neil’s wife. She wasn’t best pleased.
In the final edition of Tachyon TV to be releaed by the current production team: an interview with Nicholas Briggs, a guide to Gallifrey 21, Torchwood – The Musical, some very brave singing and a tear-jerking, self-congratulatory denouement.
Christmas Special
Probably our most complicated podcast yet. Trying to pull off silly interviews over Skype with people you don’t actually know can be a daunting prospect but thankfully both contributors really embraced the spirit of the thing and we think we got away with it. Special thanks must go to Toby Hadoke for making much of what happened possible.
The Stolen Earth
Our most “scripted” podcast with a wealth of complicated issues, not least of which was Neil having to watch the episode 34 times over a single weekend for timing reasons. This process almost killed us and it remains the last of our podcast commentaries. Perhaps this time we mean it.
Topics up for discussion include: Soho drinking clubs, incipient Forsythia, Sarah Jane’s giant dating computer, Sky series link clashes, Torchwood’s AV bill, and the definite Dempsey and Makepeace DVD boxset release.
Black Orchid
Our last attempt at a classic series commentary was a bit of a struggle to be honest, mainly because it was recorded in the same day that we watched Warriors of the Deep. There’s only so much a podcasting team can take.
Topics up for discussion include: missing aliens, Sting, 1920s sex games, Nyssa’s piercing, and the five hour novelisation reading by Michael Cochrane.

Bidmead Special
The only magazine style podcast without an interview (one of the Terrance Dickses fell through at the last moment). Instead we have a go at some American TV shows, and Neil tries to plug his impending journey up Mt. Kilimanjaro. Includes probably our most popular song (if ‘popular’ is the right word) and we begin a very long hiatus after this “very special’ episode.
TTV Goes to Gallifrey
Our trip to the 20th Gallifrey Convention in Los Angeles is documented in painstaking detail in this interview driven podcast. Instead of relaxing by the pool we hunted down celebrities and thrust our microphone into their hands. This is the result.
Featuring interviews with: Phil Collinson, Toby Hadoke, Rob Shearman, Frazer Hines, Wendy Padbury, Phil Ford, Kai Owen, Nev Fountain, David Howe and Mark Wright
11th Doctor Special
Genuinely recorded live in the hours leading up to the Matt Smith casting. Damon had to leave for Scotland and he honestly didn’t have a clue who it was when he departed. We had loads of Chewitel Ejiofor jokes lined up and we were genuinely shocked by the announcement. This is one of the rare occasions where we managed to record and release a podcast on the same day.
The Invasion of Time
We couldn’t face the prospect of six episodes so we went for the “two-parter” approach instead. In a parallel universe we did all six episodes. But only two of us came out of the room alive.
>Topics up for discussion include: David Essex, Temporal Oust, Gallifreyan Bingo, supply teachers, faulty DVDs, spoilers for The Five Doctors, and little chairs.

Survival
John Paul returns to commentary duties for the final time as we attempt to spread the pain of three episodes amongst the four of us. Quiche beckons to the person lucky enough to skip an episode. Sorry JP.
Topics up for discussion include: Anthony Ainley’s teeth acting, premenstrual tension, Peter Frampton, West Side Story, and the Boxer Beat.

Warriors of the Deep
The first of a series of podcasts recorded in my step-daughter’s bedroom in the hope of gaining better acoustics in the volcano. The only problem was that her TV had an intermittent problem which meant we were occasionally plunged into complete chaos when we lost the picture or sound or sometimes both. See if you can spot where this happens. Episode 4 is our third and final attempt at selling the extra guest conceit. We won’t be doing it again.
Topics up for discussion include: Silurian cafeterias, Aqua Karina, Kamelion’s dolly tub, Duran Duran, Leslie Ash, and Ian Levine’s gravy stained corrections.

TTV 4
We were really happy with this one. It also marks the beginnng of our wonderfully surreal relationship with Toby Hadoke (although Rob Shearman continues to shun us).
Featuring: interviews with Rob ‘Dalek’ Shearman and Toby Hadoke. Plus – Phil Collinson’s Guide to the Arts, Ming Mong Watch and a very special appeal on behalf of the National Society for the Sufferers of Congenital, Compulsive and Crippling CGI Inclusion Illness (NSSCCCCGIII).
